Preventing safety and corrosion problems related to H2S in crude oil
H2S is a colorless but poisonous and corrosive gas that evolves from the sulfur in crude oil. H2S scavengers from GE Water & Process Technologies can control H2S levels to reduce safety and corrosion problems.
For example, during crude shipment and offloading, dissolved H2S can be liberated into the vapor space of a vessel. H2S scavengers from GE can minimize evolution of the gas, reducing the threat it poses to tanker and refinery workers.
H2S also attacks piping, valves and other equipment made of iron. The resultant
iron sulfide corrosion can lead to failures and leaks, cause upsets in treating
systems, and plug disposal wells. Application of H2S scavengers from GE can
reduce or eliminate these problems as well.
