Sludge Dewatering

Sludge Dewatering

Cut disposal costs while meeting environmental regulations

GE Water & Process Technologies helps refiners, manufacturers, municipal wastewater treatment plant operators and others to handle and dewater sludges to meet economic targets while complying with environmental, health and safety (EH&S) rules.

Inefficient sludge treatment leads to low-quality effluent, reduces sludge solids content, increases disposal costs, and necessitates sludge rework. Also, responding to upsets in the sludge process may pull resources from other important projects.

Mechanical assistance (centrifuge, vacuum, pressure) can increase the drainage rate and the amount of water released from sludge, but the best dewatering performance requires optimization of both chemical treatment and mechanical equipment. GE's patented Shear Resistance Polymers provide superior performance and cost effectiveness over traditional polymers under the high stress environments of centrifuges and belt presses.

GE provides advanced products and services for evaluating and treating a variety of sludge types, including those with oils or high biological content. Our technical and service professionals work closely with you to develop and apply a complete treatment program that achieves your operational and environmental goals.
