Slurry Settling

Slurry Settling

Convert slurry oil into a high-value by-product

The bottoms slurry from catalytic cracking and coking units can be converted into a valuable by-product if ash content can be reduced. The ash is mostly zeolite, alumino-silicate, and catalyst, with some additional inorganic components. If the ash content can be reduced to 0.05 percent or less (by weight), the treated slurry oil can command a premium of $1 to $3 per barrel.

GE Water and Process Technologies can deliver settling aids that improve the settling rate of ash over a wide range of operating and mechanical conditions. These aids are typically applied to slurry rundown before tankage, and allow for quick separation in product storage tanks. Our technical and service professionals can work with you to develop and apply a cost-effective program for ash reduction in slurry oil.
