This is the first process on-line TOC analyzer based on the green Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) technology, and offers significant environmental advantages over the common combustion technology used by many other manufacturers.
The SCWO environmental advantages include:
- Elimination of hazardous or difficult-to-dispose of materials and waste generated by other analyzers, such as platinum or palladium-coated alumina oxide pellets, quartz combustion tube waste, and sacrificial metals.
- No ozone generation, which can be a health issue in small concentrations. Other on-line TOC analyzers that use ozone in their sample oxidation process will also require excessive amounts of acid and caustic solutions.
- Cost and space savings, because the InnovOx does not require bulky, expensive oxygen gas cylinders.
- Improved worker safety, since the InnovOx does not expose workers to a dangerous external high-temperature furnace or flammable compressed oxygen gas cylinders.
Like the current InnovOx Laboratory model, the new InnovOx On-Line is designed for the industrial wastewater, municipal wastewater, and process water industries. The InnovOx (short for “Innovative Oxidation” technology) uses high temperature and pressure to convert liquid water samples into supercritical water, a phase in which the water is neither liquid nor gas, and then Supercritical Water Oxidation occurs. This results in greater than 99% efficient oxidation, better TOC measurement accuracy and precision, and the elimination of problematic sample contamination after every analysis.
