Clarification

Clarification

Upgrading the quality of incoming or outgoing water streams

Clarification is the removal of contaminants from incoming water to make it suitable for potable or industrial uses, or from outgoing water to ensure compliance with regulations concerning discharge or reuse.

With regard to influent water, GE Water & Process Technologies offers treatment programs that remove organic color, calcium and magnesium hardness, iron, and suspended solids, using exclusive blends of custom-designed polymer formulations for specific applications. These polymers - available as liquids, emulsions or powders - help eliminate the need for pH adjustment, decrease load on demineralizers, increase filter throughput, and significantly reduce sludge volume. Influent clarification can:

Improve efficiency in boiler and cooling systems
Improve the performance of scale inhibitors
Improve process operations
Produce cleaner, clearer drinking water.

GE also offers the industry's most technologically advanced and comprehensive resources to make effluent or wastewater acceptable for reuse or discharge. Polymer treatment programs improve effluent clarity in primary clarifiers and accelerate the settling of suspended biological solids in secondary clarifiers. Polymers and dewatering aids also reduce the volume and moisture content of sludge, minimizing the problems and costs of solid waste disposal. Benefits from effluent/wastewater clarification include:

Reduced fouling by solids, organics, microbiological materials and colloids
Increased settling rates
Reduced sludge volume
Reduced odors.

Benefits to you

Improved environmental compliance
Increased water reuse capability
Lower treatment costs
Lower sludge volume
Improved community goodwill
