Meeting regulations on the release of heavy metals in waste streams The removal of heavy metals from industrial waste streams has become one of the most important applications in wastewater treatment. Ongoing legislation has created stricter discharge limits, which has compelled plants to add or upgrade metal removal processes. GE Water & Process Technologies' MetClear™ MR Series improves heavy metal removal efficiencies from waste streams and helps industrial facilities meet tight discharge limits and avoid potential fines. Metals in waste streams do not naturally degrade and are toxic to aquatic life at low concentrations. For operators of industrial facilities, GE provides effective treatment programs for reducing heavy metals in waste streams to help ensure regulatory compliance. Metals that can be removed from wastewater include soluble and/or particulate heavy metals, such as lead, copper, chromium, nickel, iron and manganese. MetClear™ MR Series and PolyFloc™ products from GE are advanced chemical agents that effectively remove heavy metals from wastewater over a wide pH range. Whatever heavy metal you use or produce, GE technology can provide effective tools for wastewater management. |
