Karen C. Toren

Global Commercial Training Leader
GE Water & Process Technologies

Ms. Toren has over 12 years experience in Training and Human Resources. She has held HR Generalist roles in the technology industry with AOL, Internet Capital Group, and several IT consulting firms. Karen was the Manager of People Development at Wawa, a $3B regional convenience store retailer. In that role she managed a team of HR generalists and training professionals responsible for corporate and store based training. Just prior to joining GE, Ms. Toren was the Manager of Leadership Development at CIGNA, a $17B insurance company.

Currently Ms. Toren is the Global Commercial Training Leader. In that capacity she is responsible for the training strategy and execution of a common curriculum to meet the learning needs of the Commercial team. The team's focus is on differentiating our training efforts globally and implementation of the GE Sales and Marketing competency models.

Karen joined GE Water and Process Technologies in early 2006 as the HR Manager for the North America Commercial organization. In this role, she supported the 950 person North American Chemical and Equipment commercial sales organization. Karen was also the HR lead for the ECLP program for GE Water.

Karen received her Bachelors degree in Marketing and International Business from Penn State University. She completed her Masters Degree in Organizational Dynamics at the University of Pennsylvania will graduate in May 2007. She has been certified by SHRM as a Professional in Human Resources since 1996.

Karen is married and lives in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania with her husband Jeff and, two children Rebecca (age 6) and Noah (age 3).
